Personal Manifesto

My Promises to You and Me.

As a creator, collaborator, and person, it is extremely important to me that my actions mirror my values. My manifesto serves to make sure those two sectors are in alignment. It outlines my promises to my clients and collaborators, as well as my promises to myself.

  • I will let compassion, curiosity, and kindness drive and direct me.
  • I will value authenticity, originality, quirks, and honesty, and strive to honor them in my life and my work.
  • I will consciously push myself to be increasingly more fluid and open minded.
  • I will push myself to continuously grow and develop my education, perspectives, and beliefs.
  • I will encourage myself to be creative and experimental, savouring the journey and process of doing such.
  • I will push myself to be devoted and committed, giving my full efforts to my undertakings.

Editor’s Manifesto

As a copy editor, I will:

  • Prioritize accuracy by confirming details including names, dates, locations, claims, and more to ensure that the article is factually accurate and provided with a strong foundation.
  • Honor authorial voice within work rather than blind adherence to widely respected style guides to preserve authenticity.
  • Strive to reduce stereotypes, generalizing terminology and claims, and personal biases of all sorts.
  • Use sources respectfully and responsibly by avoiding plagiarism and inappropriate use of sources, confirming accessibility and usage rights, honoring source confidentiality, and reaching out to sources with unclear usage rights to ensure safe use.
  • Use judgment when handling personal details of citizens, prioritizing privacy over exposure. These conditions change when it comes to information about influential, high powered individuals who remain in the public eye, such as politicians, famous people, criminals, etcetera, as this information has potential to impact the rest of society.
  • Respect and uphold client based agreements by discussing and confirming client expectations, privacy standards, data storage, and data sharing.
  • Strive to improve your work rather through small changes and tweaks, rather than developing my own changed version of your project.
  • Revisit projects multiple times to ensure thorough processing and understanding to provide the best service possible.

A.I Manifesto

Art is beautiful and powerful because it was composed by humans.

I strongly support the belief that all Artificial Intelligence practices should be responsible, consentful, and clearly communicated with the client if utilized. However, I do not condone the regular use of A.I’s involvement in the modern world. Simply put: I hate A.I. I do not feel it should not be for public use, and especially not used in arts and writing. Therefore, I do not use A.I in any of my practices. A.I involvement in the art limits human job opportunities and further suppresses a field that is already becoming less valued by modern society. If my opinions change, my A.I manifestos will be updated to reflect such changes, but I do not anticipate a change in my perspective.

Editing

  • I perform the majority of my editing in Google Docs. I utilize the basic spell checking tool it provides. This is the furthest my A.I use goes.
  • I do not use generative A.I technology to aid me in any of my processes.
  • I strongly discourage the involvement of generative A.I in artistic practices, including writing.
  • I do not desire to collaborate with any business or writer who has used generative A.I tools to create their draft.
  • Any programs that I use (Google Docs, Word) have had all additional A.I functions disabled, unless stated otherwise within my manifestos.
  • I believe that undisclosed A.I use is a violation of client confidentiality and privacy agreements, as A.I uses inputs to further develop their programs, turning a once private and protected project into nonconsensual learning opportunity for widespread Artificial Intelligence programs.

Photography

  • All optional A.I functions within Lightroom Classic have been disabled.
  • I do not use generative A.I in my photography practices.
  • All edits made to photographs are done by hand by me via Lightroom Classic. This is an extremely tedious process, but it is extremely important to me.
  • I do not perform A.I based touch ups, such as object or blemish removal.
